As a top supplier of building materials, trusses, millwork, windows, cabinetry, flooring and other components to contractors and owners of high-quality homes throughout the state, Drexel Building Supply outgrew its showroom and distribution center on Bluemound Road and set out to find a new location to serve Southeast Wisconsin. In early 2019, the Waukesha County Center for Growth began working with Drexel, providing support with site searches and introductions to candidate buildings. Over the next year, the Center for Growth worked with Drexel as plans for potential development moved forward with city officials in New Berlin. After working with Drexel on financing options and introducing the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) to discuss possible incentives, Drexel purchased a 90-acre site north of Coffee Road and east of Calhoun Road, south of the existing industrial parks. A ground-breaking celebration was held for the new location in December, and construction is on track for a grand opening in September of this year. With a significant showroom, full lumber yard capabilities and an expanded distribution center, the total investment is estimated at $12 million. In addition, 50 current employees will be moving to the new site with the potential for 50+ more to join over the next several years. The Center for Growth is incredibly proud of its partnership with Drexel and looks forward to continued expansion and growth in the years to come. • JUDIE TAYLOR Executive Director, Economic Development, Waukesha County Center for Growth CENTER FOR GROWTH SUPPORTS CONTINUED EXPANSION The Waukesha County Center for Growth was established in 2016 as Waukesha County's economic development organization. waukeshagrowth.org 12 WAUKESHA COUNTY BUSINESS ALLIANCE, INC. | WAUKESHA.ORG
