We are proud to have been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index North America for the third consecutive year in recognition of our sustainability performance. For 2021, Kohl’s was also named to the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook, an annual worldwide ranking honoring top companies’ environmental, social and governance efforts. More than 7,000 companies from around the world were assessed this year and only 630 organizations made it into the Yearbook. STRIVING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN WAUKESHA COUNTY At our Menomonee Falls headquarters, we have installed several solar trees that track the sun and rotate throughout the day to generate clean, renewable energy. Each solar tree can generate between 25,000 to 35,000 kilowatt-hours of power annually and also offers EV stations that can each charge as many as six electric vehicles daily. In 2019, Kohl’s stopped selling all plastic water bottles at the food-service locations within our corporate offices and credit and customer service centers, helping to eliminate an estimated 150,000 plastic bottles annually. We also collected more than 600 pounds of textiles for recycling at a one-day corporate event. Beginning in 2018, Kohl’s coordinated a series of volunteer events with the Waukesha County Park System. These events, held throughout the summer, included tree plantings, invasive plant removal and general park cleanup activities. More than 300 volunteer hours were provided and donations were collected and applied towards developing and maintaining the Park's Citizen Science Program. WISCONSIN SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS COUNCIL Kohl’s also serves on the advisory board of the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council (WSBC). The WSBC serves as a catalyst for businesses looking to integrate sustainability into their operations at a deeper level and supports organizations and sustainability professionals through an array of programming, education, resources and other tools. The WSBC is also known for its Green Masters Program, an assessment and recognition program for Wisconsin businesses interested in improving and being recognized for their sustainability initiatives. Kohl’s has been recognized through the WSBC’s Green Masters Program over the past several years for our performance across multiple initiatives.
