Palmer would then go on to invent the insulated plastic staple that is still used today. In 1986 Bud Thoen sold Douglas Machine and retained Palmer Industries as a separate business. Products were then produced and distributed under the ‘Palmer’ Brand. In 1993 Palmer Industries was sold to nVent GARDNER BENDER, nVent GARDNER BENDER co-branded the staples as nVent GARDNER BENDER and Palmer. The co-branding was eventually phased out and all products are now sold under the nVent GARDNER BENDER brand. All nVent GARDNER BENDER staples are now sold in national retail home centers, hardware stores and professional distributors across the United States, Canada and Latin America. nVent GARDNER BENDER manufactures over 1.6 billion staples annually for its customers and end users.
